Children's Ministry

JRBC Children’s ministry exists to introduce children to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

J.A.M. (Jesus and Me)

Jones Road Baptist Church J.A.M Session is designed to help children know, love, and follow Christ with all their hearts in a safe, high-energy, enriching environment for kids from Pre-K to 5th grade.

... Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” —Matthew 19:14

J.A.M Sessions seeks to partner with parents to:

  • Develop children as Christ-followers and teach them to share their faith
  • Develop children as worshippers
  • Develop children as prayer warriors
  • Teach children to make wise choices according to Scripture
  • Support families with fun, creative ways to enhance each child's spiritual journey

Sunday Morning J.A.M. Session begins at 9:30 in the children’s facility.

Currently our AWANA Ministry meets on Sunday from 5:30-7:30 P.M.

Beginning in August 2017 our AWANA Ministry will meet on Wednesdays at 6:45 P.M. in the children’s facility.

The word AWANA is an acronym that stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.” It comes from 2 Timothy 2:15, in which Paul encouraged Timothy to study God’s Word in order to show himself approved.

Our AWANA program offers five different Bible Club experiences for the age levels below. Each club uses a variety of age-appropriate activities that help preschoolers and kids:

  • Memorize Scripture
  • Develop an awareness of mission projects locally and overseas that encourage participation and giving
  • Learn how to share their faith in Christ as Savior
  • Develop important relationships with friends and caring adults

Experiences in AWANA foster a deep commitment to Christ and a genuine love for God’s Word. Parents are asked to volunteer at least once a month by listening to verses that have been memorized.

Clubs

Puggles (for children of volunteers)

AWANA Puggles Club teaches toddlers simple Bible lessons through teaching cards, music and games. Parents receive take-home cards to reinforce the lessons taught. Each child receives a Puggles T-shirt with the friendly platypus mascot and related coloring pages.

Cubbies Age 3 to Pre-K

AWANA Cubbies Club provides a framework for spiritual training in the home under the supervision of the parents. One handbook, filled with Bible verses and activities for parents to do with their children at home, is completed each year. Club activities include games, puppets, crafts and verses that are memorized to receive stickers and patches for the Cubbie blue vest. Story Time reinforces the Bible verses being learned.

Sparks Kindergarten through Grade 3

AWANA Sparks’ handbooks teach basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible. A clear and consistent presentation of the Gospel message is made each week. The Bible is presented chronologically, and details about Bible characters are told in captivating biographies. Students earn jewels to place in their aviator wings as they complete the handbook: SkyStormer. They will memorize 65 verses within three years. Game Time offers team and individual competitions that are fast-paced and high-energy.

TNT (Truth and Training) Grades 4–5

AWANA TNT is designed to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him. The four handbooks are each built around eight different questions about God, the Bible, salvation and Christian living. Students memorize eight different Bible passages for each question. At the end of the four-year program, students will have memorized 310 Bible verses to receive the cherished Timothy Award (2 Timothy 2:15).
